This Jailbreak Tweak Brings Back iOS 6’s Reflective Glass Dock

Miss iOS 6’s reflective glass dock? This jailbreak tweak has got you covered.

In Jony Ive’s ruthless purge of all traces of skeuomorphism, one of the biggest casualties was the glass-backed dock which made the iOS icons look as if they were floating on a pseudo-3D space.

In truth, the glass dock metaphor has never really worked very well, if only because it doesn’t make any sense: it creates the illusion of an operating system with depth, which iOS doesn’t have. That’s why I’m pretty sure that when Jony Ive gets his hands on OS X, the glass dock is going to be the first thing to go.

Either way, many of us still have a soft spot in our hearts for the ‘classic’ glass iOS dock, and what do you know. A new jailbreak tweak called ClassicDock will bring the reflective glass dock from iOS 6 back to your homescreen.

Classic Dock can be downloaded from Cydia’s BigBoss repo. It’s free!
