Lightroom For iPad Might Be Closer Than You Think

Lightroom might be coming to the iPad sooner than your think, if this accidental posting of the photo-editing app is anything to go by. Oddly, it shows “Adobe Lightroom for Mobile, Annual” at $99 per year, which would suggest that this is a landing page for a service, not an actual app as one source of the story believes.

We know that Lightroom for the iPad is coming – Adobe’s Tom Hogarty told us so. But this new leak shows us how the service might work. It looks like Adobe might be offering to add your Lightroom Smart Previews (tiny but fully-functional versions of you pictures that can be edited without needed the full-res originals) to its Creative Cloud suite for $99 per year, giving you access to your entire Lightroom library from your iPad, including the ability to edit your pictures.

This is exciting to say the least, and would embarrass Apple’s pathetic iOS photo software efforts, too (where’s Aperture? Why doesn’t iPhoto for iOS integrate with Photo Stream?). I haven’t heard any rumblings about upcoming Adobe releases, so maybe things will take a little while longer, but I can’t wait.
