A new Apple Store has opened in Brisbane, Australia — representing the fourth to open in Queensland, and the largest in Australia’s Sunshine State.

Around 500 fans queued up for the grand opening ahead of time, with some camping out all night. The second person in line was Apple Store aficionado Gary Allen, who had traveled from California for the opening — which represents his 38th store opening.

Allen (who recorded the video we’ve embedded above) likened the building to similar heritage building refurbishments by Apple in London, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin — although he claimed that Brisbane’s MacArthur Chambers Apple Store store ranks among the best.

The MacArthur Chambers store — previously home to a discount bookstore — suffered delays in opening as the result of complications related to installing the modern retail store within an historic building. Although initial plans called for the store to feature Apple’s patented glass staircase, this was not carried through to the final design.

The store is located close to other luxury brands, including Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co and Gucci. Cartier and Bulgari are set to open stores in the near future.
