News Republic — the iOS app which describes itself as the “definitive news app” — has received an upgrade, including several significant improvements.

Version 4.0 boasts a fresh, iOS 7 optimized look featuring a new icon and added space in the layout for easier browsing and reading of the news.

There’s additionally a new “One Feed” view (accessible by swiping to the right from the app’s home screen), which puts all the most important articles, along with your favorite topics, in one place.

The app also features enhanced personalization: learning from your reading history to build up a personal “news profile” which fits the stories you have looked at in the past. Based on this, a recommender system then suggests the articles you’ll most likely be interested in reading.

While these features are currently only available for the iPhone version, a similar iPad upgrade should be made available soon.

News Republic is available for free in the App Store.
