Thanks to the release of Chrome 32 for Android and iOS, users of Google’s mobile OS will have the option of reducing their browser’s data usage by up to 50 percent.

The feature (which rolls out over the next few days) works by compressing webpages on Google’s servers, before sending them to the phone they will be read on.

Google hopes that by reducing customer’s data usage, Chrome users will be able to save money on mobile plan which feature limited monthly data.

To turn the feature on, users must go to ‘Settings’, ‘Bandwidth management’, and then toggle the ‘Reduce data usage’ to ‘On’.
