The iOS gaming experience is about to get a whole lot more interactive, thanks to Israeli startup Umoove.

With its new app Umoove Experience, downloadable free of charge from the App Store, gamers can have a go at piloting a 3D avatar flying over a village — enabling them to control navigation entirely by face and head gestures.

The app is powered by Umoove’s patented face and eye-tracking technology, and uses an iDevice’s front facing camera with no need for additional hardware. To make matters even better, the tech functions at a low CPU of less than 5 percent on new devices.

While Umoove Experience is, as the name suggests, certainly an “experience” it is pretty far from a fleshed-out game. That’s because Umoove co-founder and CMO Tuvia Elbaum intends it as a showcase designed to “introduce face and eye interaction to the public and to wet their pallets for what is to come.”

Umoove has additionally announced that the complete version of their SDK is now officially available to the public, and can be integrated for free by signing up via the Umoove website.

This could be the beginning of a beautiful, gesture-controlled friendship.
