Tech research firm DisplaySearch has published its forecast predictions for 2014 — and among them is the suggest that the next generation iPhone will feature a dramatically larger display.
According to DisplaySearch, this display would measure between 4.7″ and 5.5″, and feature a resolution of 1600 x 900 at 386 pixels-per-inch (for the 4.7″ concept), and 1920 x 1080 resolution at 401 pixels-per-inch (for the 5.5″ concept). By comparison, the current iPhone 5 family has a 4″ screen with 1136 x 640 resolution and 326 pixels-per-inch — which Apple describes as Retina display.
DisplaySearch also predicts that Apple will adopt a high-density 320 x 320 AMOLED display for its long-awaited iWatch.
While the forecasts are not based on any specific insider knowledge, it is worth noting that DisplaySearch has correctly guessed Apple’s moves in the past and is generally considered one of the more reputable sources of supply-chain gossip around. With that being said, they are just forecasts.
