CES 2014 bug

What if you could control the color of your jewelry (provided you wear some, that is) using your iPhone?

This thought is behind the development of a new line of Bluetooth smart jewelry from UK-based chip maker CRS — able to connect to mobile devices so that wearers that customize the color and brightness to suit their mood, or match a particular outfit.

The pendant-style necklaces also perform a range of smartwatch-style functions, such as alerting users that they have received a notification on their phone.

“Many of the wearable technology devices hitting the shelves today offer great features but don’t take into consideration that consumers want beautiful, cutting-edge devices that complement their personal style,” Paul Williamson, the director of low-power wireless at CSR, has said. “If wearable technology is to reach its potential it needs to appeal to more than just technology lovers. Devices like these connected pendants will help wearable tech go mass market.”

The jewelry works with CSR’s Bluetooth Smart chip, the CSR1012. It also works with iOS 7’s notification center service.

How about wearing them with these Apple cuff links or earrings?
