Braven’s Wi-Fi Vibe Station Turns Your Bluetooth Speakers Into A Multi-Room Sound System [CES 2014]

CES 2014 bug Cult of Mac favorite Braven is showing off a wireless speaker at CES this year. It’s totally not what you’re expecting, though: The Vibe System is a range of hybrid Bluetooth/Wi-Fi speakers that can be used individually – hooked up to your iDevices – or in multiroom concert, Sonos-style. And being from Braven, it all runs away from mains power.

At its simplest, you just pair with a Vibe speaker and play your music, just like you do with any other Bluetooth speaker. But if you opt to buy a Vibe Station (also a speaker), you can use it as the nerve center of your whole speaker operation.

The Vibe System lets you beam music to multiple speakers in different rooms, and even set up zones for different parts of the home (or office I guess). The Vibe Station can send sound to other Vibe speakers, and even include your old Braven Bluetooth speakers in the mix. The Station is in turn controlled by an iOS app, which is controlled by you. Can you feel the raw power? Can you?

The pricing for this neat-sounding setup is yet to be announced, but I’m itching to test it out – not least because I have a bunch of Braven speakers already ready to roll (aka sitting in a box in the corner of my testing lab).
