Will An iPhablet Launch In May? [Rumor]

We all know that the iPhone 6 will be thinner than the current model — Apple hasn’t released a major iteration of a product yet without making it at least a tiny bit svelter — but will it also be physically bigger? That’s the million dollar question, and a new rumor says ‘yes’, and that Apple may release a physically bigger iPhone as early as May.

The rumor comes from Chinese news site Huanqiu, which claims that Apple is planning on releasing a phablet 5+-inch iPhone running a 64-bit, next-gen A8 processor in May as an entirely separate product from the iPhone 6, which will launch in September. That’s hard to believe: it’s not like Apple to split up iPhone announcements like that.

Meanwhile, another rumor, this time courtesy of ET News, says the iPhone 6 will be just 6mm thick, down from the current 7.6mm of the 5S. However, ETNews claims that the iPhone 6 will be available in two separate display sizes of 4.7-inch and 5.7-inches respectively.

I don’t really buy it, but stranger things have happened. The iPad Air and iPad mini are two sizes of essentially the same device, so why not do the same thing with the iPhone? What do you think?
