This is the most overrated piece of junk software out there. If you do any research on the manufacturer’s website you’ll find there are only 164 Windows games and programs known to work, and even some of those work better than others. I’ve used this software before, or I should say, I’ve bought it and tried to use it. Either run Bootcamp or buy Parallels or VMWare instead. All 3 work on every Windows game and program. Crossover does not.

I bought Crossover 12, and have yet to find anything useful about it. Most of the programs that it can run are old.

Not true. Games in VM tend to crank the heat out like crazy. Running my game in Crossover (DAoC) I am around 70 degrees c.. Run in a VM (tried both VMware 6 and Parallels 9) and I’m pushing 90-100 degree’s calculus on the CPU.. which is crazy.

The reason is that Crossover, if you can get it to work, isn’t adding an extra layer. Your game is working directly with the Video card/cpu drivers and will generally run smoother. I generally do bootcamp (if I must) or crossover, if I can. Guild Wars 2 works great in Crossover, so does Civ 5. The new 13 also has a revamped Driver for Macs/OS X and when I had trouble the developers were very responsive.

    Thats my take anyway.

Please don’t buy this, it doesn’t work with 99% of windows apps, and the ones it does, it does very poorly. It’s also a train wreck when it comes to peripheral support. It saddens me that CoM is promoting such a poorly made piece of software. If you need to run windows apps just get parallels. I hope those reading this can avoid the frustration I experienced trying to use this program.
