Keanu Reeves is coming to Infinity Blade III. Confused yet? So were we. But it’s all part of a special in-game event that will be used to promote Reeves’ new samurai film, 47 Ronin.
In Infinity Blade III, special events called ClashMobs give players a chance to gain special items by participating in a global social challenge. In partnership with 47 Ronins, the latest ClashMob will have players teaming up to defeat a new enemy, the Samurai Brute, in order to gain his sword.
Infinity Blade developer Chair Entertainment explains it a little better:
Kicking off Friday, December 13, and running through Tuesday, December 24, the 47 Ronin ClashMob invites gamers and moviegoers to join forces in an effort to defeat the imposing Samurai Brute before he appears in the film on December 25. If the Mob is successful, they’ll be rewarded with the Brute’s sword, which will be added to their in-game arsenal for future battles. This unique challenge is the only opportunity players will have to obtain this exclusive weapon!
Set to premiere in the United States on Christmas, 47 Ronin is the fictional account of the titular samurai. Reeves stars as Kai, a half-Japanese and half-British outcast, who joins a group of ronin, led by Kuranosuke Oishi, who seeks vengeance on Lord Kira for killing their master and banishing the group.
If you want to have a go at getting the Samurai Brute’s sword, you can register for the event now by going to the ClashMob option in Infinity Blade III’s world map.
Infinity Blade III is available on the App Store for $6.99.
