Amazon has today revealed that its family of Kindles brought record sales between Black Friday and Cyber Monday for the third year running. But as usual, the retail giant won’t tell us exactly how many devices it has sold.

In 2011, Amazon announced that it had enjoyed “the best Black Friday ever for Kindle family,” and it managed to smash that record again in 2012, selling more than double the number of devices it sold over Thanksgiving weekend a year earlier.

And it has done it again this year, confirming a “record holiday shopping weekend for Kindle.” But if you were hoping to find out exactly how many tablets and e-readers that were picked up over the four-day period, then you’re out of luck, because Amazon continues to keep those figures a secret — even from its shareholders.

It did say, however, that the new 7-inch Kindle Fire HDX and Kindle Fire HD were the best-selling items on Amazon.com over the weekend, which sounds very promising indeed.
