Aviiq’s Mini Charging Station: Travel Has Never ‘Felt’ Better

I just found out that Aviiq’s sweet portable charging station comes in a mini version, and it’s made of felt. As someone who loves felted wool so much that I have both iPad bags and slippers in the magical material, I’m stoked about this tiny portable power package.

Like the utilitarian original we saw back in the summer, the Portable Charging Folio Mini is a small bag containing a 4-port USB hub, plus space for various chargers and cables. The idea is that you toss this into your travel bag and use it to charge any and all of your USB-powered devices from one wall outlet.

It’s a great idea, let down only by the fact that there’s no high-power port for charging iPads, or to emergency charge iPhones in double-quick time. It’s also $80, which is a lot for a powered USB hub in a fancy case.

You could also choose the bigger, non-mini version which also packs a 5200mAh backup battery and costs $150. Me? I’m going to pack my chargers inside my gray felt slippers and kill two birds with one beautifully stylish and insulated stone: Not only will I have my power needs organized, I’ll also have slippers to keep my socks off the filthy hotel carpet.
