When is the iPad mini with Retina Display coming out? Apple would only commit to November, but Cupertino’s third-party retail partners might have more information. In fact, they seem to think that the Retina mini will debut on November 21st.

According to an online product listing at Target.com, the 7.9-inch, ultra hi-res tablet will be coming out on November 21st, or the week before Thanksgiving.

This could be a wild guess on Target’s part, but the timing makes sense. Thanksgiving in the United States is held on November 28th this year, with the nation’s most important shopping day, Black Friday, following the next day. Black Friday is crazy, but it’s the last possible Friday Apple could launch the mini in November: they want to have the new iPad mini out at least a week before lest they have utter anarchy on their hands. You don’t launch a new product on Black Friday. To do so is madness.

Weighing against the leak is the fact that November 21st is a Thurday, and Apple usually launches on Friday. My guess, though, would be that Thursday is simply the day Target would get the new mini from Apple, and consequently, the first possible day they could ship them out.
