iPad Air and iPad mini

T-Mobile is bringing its “Uncarrier” strategy to tablets with the upcoming launch of Apple’s new iPads. Yesterday we reported that T-Mobile will offer 200 MB of free (yes, totally free) data to iPad Air and mini owners.  But that’s not all.

The carrier has confirmed that customers will be able to purchase a new iPad with no money down and make monthly payments, a similar approach to how some smartphones are sold on the network. The iPad Air will start at $26.25 per month for the base 16GB cellular model. The Retina iPad mini will start at $22.08. Payments are made over a period of 24 monthly installments. So instead of walking into the store and dropping $629 for the iPad Air, you can spread out smaller payments over time.

Monthly payments stay the same for each device no matter what, but the 32GB iPad Air and Retina iPad mini will require a $99 payment up front. The 64GB models will require a $199 down payment, and pricing for the 126GB models hasn’t been announced yet.

T-Mobile says that the $0 down offer is an introductory deal, so there’s no telling how long it will last. The iPad Air goes on sale November 1st with the Retina mini to follow later in the month.
