Buying an iPad case on the eve of an Apple iPad event is probably not the smartest thing to do, but if any case can tempt me it’s this gorgeous Folio from Dodocase. At the very least, it’s got me hoping that any new iPad minis have the exact same dimensions as the current one. In short, the Folio looks to be the perfect marriage of old and new tech.
The case is a book-style folio with a home for the iPad over on the left, and a pad of paper on the right. This configuration is clearly for right handers, but as I’m right-handed I’m totally cool with that. The design also lets lefties flip the layout.
The cover is covered with cloth, and the leather spine has a spot for a pen. There’s a cutout for the camera, and if you lift up the notepad you’ll find a couple of hidden pockets perfect for cards, cash or other slimline essentials. There’s also what Dodocase calls a “slash” pocket, presumably there to store your snakes and top hats.
Like I said: an almost perfect of old school and high-tech, especially for students. Why “almost”? Because this case costs $125, or not far off half the price of an iPad mini. Still, I totally want one.
Available now in gray, with tan leather and a choice of gray or neon yellow elastic and trim.
