Vimeo for iOS 7

Vimeo announced Wednesday that its video sharing app for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad has now been updated for iOS 7. The new update lets you upload video directly from your iOS device camera, as well as offline instant playback of saved videos.

The app has been re-vamped to better match and work with iOS 7, as well, including a new video thumbnail feature, which shows live previews of video content in the smaller navigation thumbnails.

Better yet, you can now share any Vimeo videos on your device with other iOS 7 devices using AirDrop.

The Vimeo app connects you to the Vimeo website via a native universal app, letting you watch, upload, and share Vimeo videos with others on the service. IT’s a direct competitor to Google’s YouTube, with a reputation for higher quality, artistic videos.

“We are proud that iOS 7 users can now instantly upload videos directly to Vimeo from their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, and can’t wait for our users to try it out,” said Vimeo’s Nick Alt in a statement. “In addition, we’re excited to be first to market with an app that allows for the instant playback of videos, even if they’re not connected to the Internet – a feature that gives our members a taste of where we’re headed with iOS 7.”

Sounds like there are more big features planned; these are just the beginning. The updated Vimeo app is now available for free from the App Store. If you already have the app on your iOS device, it will automatically update itself to the new, iOS 7 compatible version.
