iOS 7 Is Now Available To Download

The wait is finally over. iOS 7 is now available to download, three months after it got its first unveiling at WWDC. You can download and install it either via iTunes on your Mac and PC, or by using the over-the-air Software Update feature baked into iOS 6.

iOS 7 introduces a brand new user interface with redesigned icons and apps, plus lots of awesome new features like Control Center, iTunes Radio, AirDrop, and a much-improved Camera app. You’ll also find smaller but just as nifty features like parallax wallpapers, the ability to add more than 100 apps to a folder, and Notification Center improvements.

iOS 7 is super simple to install — just plug your iOS device into iTunes and click the update button, or use the Software Update feature on your device itself. Be sure to back up your device first, though; there’s always a small possibility something could go wrong and that you’ll have to restore, so you’ll want to ensure all of your data is safe, just in case.

iOS 7 supports the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 5; the second-, third-, and fourth-generation iPad; the iPad mini, and the fifth-generation iPod touch. It also supports the new iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s, of course, but they’re not out until Friday.

If you’re not sure whether you’re ready for iOS 7 yet, be sure to check out our review roundup, which feature snippets from the biggest and best iOS 7 reviews so far. You’ll also find Cult of Mac’s own review going out in stages today, so be sure to look out for that.

If you’re a jailbreaker and you want to maintain the ability to jailbreak, then it goes without saying that you should steer clear of the iOS 7 update for the time being. The new software hasn’t yet been jailbroken, and it’s likely to be some time before a jailbreak is available.
