It’s hard to argue with the awesomeness of Grove’s Wood Print case, a maple shell for your iPhone 5 with one of your own Instagrams printed on the back. Who wouldn’t want that?
Your photograph is printed direct onto the wood, giving it a kind of 1950s tiki-bar vibe (the landscapes Grove has chosen for the publicity materials adds to this impression). Inside the carved maple exterior is a core of purest “solid surface material” in black or white, to match the iPhone.
Designing the case is easy. You allow Grove to access your Instagram account (you can just upload an image if you prefer), pick a shape for your picture and then pick a picture. You can even pick two or three photos depending on the layout design you choose. I of course picked from my extensive Instagram collection of Knight Rider related-pictures, but you can do what you like.
The price is a steep $100, but at least you know that you’ll be good for at least another year because the iPhone 5s is the same size and shape as the 5. Available now, with a 1–2 week turnaround.
