Are you a big user of the iOS Kindle app? If you intend on updating to iOS 7 first thing when it drops next week, you might want to update your Kindle app sooner rather than later. A new critical update has been released that Amazon says will prevent iOS 7 from messing your Kindle library up.
In a new version 3.9.2 update, Amazon explains that the latest version of the Kindle software is “required” for iOS 7, and that failure to update could cause problems with both your account details and downloaded e-books.
Here’s the relevant release note:
This is a fix for a Kindle issue with the upcoming iOS 7 OS upgrade that may cause customers to have to re-register and re-download books from Amazon. Please download and install – this is a required update before upgrading to iOS 7.
Apple is due to announce new iPhones on September 10th, and our best guess indicates that Apple will release the Gold Master of iOS 7 sometime in the next few days, then follow it up with a general release of iOS 7 on September 18th. So no rush, you have around 10 days to apply the update. But don’t forget!
