Case-Mate Is Positive The iPhone 5C Will Launch On September 20th At 8AM

Case makers don’t always know more than the rest of us when it comes to when the next iPhone will come out, or even what it will look like. In a highly competitive market, case makers will routinely bet tens of thousands of dollars readying cases for iPhones that may not even exist, just in the hopes of being on the shelves at launch. Sometimes, though, case makers sometimes do have Far East assembly line sources who can give them leaked schematics of Apple’s upcoming devices.

So how to qualify this leaked render from Case-Mate, showing off a couple of iPhone 5C cases along with a very specific launch window.

The render, seen above, shows the iPhone 5C as it will look inside a couple of different cases: a bumper-style case, and a hardshell case. There is also a folio-style billfold case. More intriguingly, the leak specifies a very particular launch window for Case-Mate’s cases: “EST. SHIP DATE 9/20/2013 08:00:00 AM.”

What to make of all of this? Well, Casemate at least is betting that all rumors concerning the iPhone 5C are true, including the September 20th launch date. That doesn’t necessarily mean they have information we don’t: at this point, there’s too much smoke for there not to be fire when it comes to the iPhone 5C, and we could have told you months ago that Apple would launch the iPhone 5S/5C on September 20th. But case makers are now laying real money on the odds.

We should have more confirmation of the iPhone 5S/5C launch date this week as Apple sends out invitations for its official launch event, rumored to take place on September 10th.
