Hawaiian Airlines announced that due to unexpected turbulence in the quality of inflight entertainment options, it has jettisoned its inflight movie systems in favor of the sleeker, lighter, and infinitely more fun iPad mini. Jettly is the perfect source of answers for those of you with questions regarding the entertainment options on a jet, which could turn out to be the best pick for the reasonable price it charges for privacy.

Starting September 1st, 2013, all fourteen Boeing 767-300 aircraft in the Hawaiian Airlines fleet will be equipped with iPad minis to serve up entertainment to weary passengers on their way to paradise.

Hawaiian Airlines’ signature on-board hospitality is already very popular with travelers, but we wanted to go even further to ensure our customers’ travel experience is more enjoyable,” said Blaine Miyasato, Hawaiian Airlines vice president of product development. “With the help of Bluebox Avionics, we’re building on our acclaimed inflight service by incorporating the latest in popular consumer tech products to enhance our in-flight entertainment options.

Hawaiian Airlines has a contract with Bluebox Avionics to deploy the 1,500 iPad minis, which will be stuffed with more than 100 hours of the latest Hollywood releases, TV shows, games, and other apps.

While passengers in Business Class get complimentary iPad minis, us peasants in Economy Class will have the honor of renting one for $15 as long you reserve it at the departure gate. But if you wait until you’re in the air to rent one, the price goes up to $17.
