Be More Coherent – Reply With Smaller Bits Of Emails On Your iPhone [iOS Tips]

By

Reply Quoting

You know those long email threads, conversations, whatever you call them? The ones that run to the hundreds of words, several layers of indentation and quoting? Yeah, of course you do. We all deal with them.

Did you know that you could cut through the confusion with a simple move on your iPhone or iPad when replying to one of those beasts? Yeah, you can be the voice of coherence and reason, cutting to the chase and only replying with specifically selected text in your reply email.

Here’s how to do just that on your iOS device.

This works in Apple’s built-in Mail app, so launch that, and find an email you want to reply to. Highlight some text in the email the usual way. Tap and hold for the magnifying glass, double tap, whatever works for you. Select the text you want to reply with.

Then, hit the reply or reply all button below. An email will show up with the reply address in the To field, just like usual, only the text in the new email will only be the text you highlighted in the first step. Bam! You’re a confusion cutter.

Now you can cut through all the chatter and get right to the point in any long-winded email chain you’re stuck in. You’re welcome.
