If you’re anything like me, you spent several months play Blizzard’s latest hack-and-slash action RPG, Diablo III, back in the latter part of 2011. During that period (again, if you’re anything like me), the skin on your back probably slowly grew into the fabric of your computer chair, your complexion became a shade best described as translucent, you bathed with a rag on a stick, and your eyes became the size of a lemur’s… all because you couldn’t tear yourself away from the game.

You might want to tie another rag to a stick now and save yourself the trouble later. Blizzard has just announced the first Diablo III expansion, Reaper of Souls.

Information is thin on the ground at this point, but here’s what we know, besides the title. Like Diablo II’s expansion, Reaper of Souls will feature a new class, the mid-range meleer called the Crusader. The level cap will go up by 10 to 70, while the end game, item and paragon systems will all be updated. And the end boss? The Angel of Death. Obviously, it will also be available on the Mac at launch, like all of Blizzard’s games.

Here’s some gameplay:

Sadly, that’s all we know for right now. There’s not even a release date, which bodes ill: if there’s anything Blizzard is known for, it’s taking their sweet time. To put this in the proper perspective, it took Blizzard five years to release the Starcraft II expansion Heart of the Swarm after it was announced, and two-and-a-half years after Starcraft II came out. So we could all be waiting a while yet.
