Logitech is taking another stab at making a good keyboard case for the iPad mini, and it certainly looks hot. It’s called the Ultrathin Keyboard Folio for iPad mini, and it’s a tiny and lightweight book-style case with built-in Bluetooth keyboard. But can any iPad-mini-sized keyboard actually be good enough to type on?

The first wave of iPad mini keyboard cases were almost uniformly terrible, with tiny, hard-to-hit keys combined with weird layouts designed to save space (and, seemingly, to confuse fingers). I can only hope that Logitech has gotten it right this time.

The Ultrathin certainly looks good on paper. It weighs just 285 grams, and is just 19.3mm (0.75-inches) thick. It has a wake/sleep magnet, clips the iPad in by its corners, and has its own built-in rechargeable battery. Sadly, it also “features” dedicated copy, paste and undo keys, which is absurd on a device this size, and doubtless means the dropping of truly useful buttons like brightness controls.

We shall certainly be taking a look at this one more closely. If you can’t wait until then, you can get one now for $90.
