2K Drive Races Toward The Finish Line On iOS

Some of the folks behind Project Gotham Racing and Blur are bringing their racing game chops to iOS this fall with upcoming premium iOS game, 2K Drive. Developed by Lucid Games (Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery, Pixel Smash) and published by 2K Games (XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Borderlands Legends), 2K Drive aims to be everything a car-loving racing game fan could want, all on iPhone or iPad.

The studio promises a cadre of real licensed cars, console quality graphics, and authentic driving environments, letting you race against friends and others via the Internet for true multiplayer racing. You’ll earn cars, boosts, parts, and more to personalize your car and your driver, even as far as taking a picture of yourself to put behind the wheel.

Even better, there’ll be live feeds to deliver real-time racing news and content right to the app, letting you view live news, watch videos and peruse photo galleries — share them with friends on Facebook or Twitter when you see something cool.

Speaking of something cool, check out this launch trailer:

That certainly shows off the high-end, console-worthy graphics, plus some weird racing-based mini games (car soccer, anyone?) that are probably intended to add to the game’s replayability. Personally, I’d like to see more car porn and more racing than more odd mini games, but that might just be me.

Regardless, 2K Drive is looking slick; here’s hoping it lives up to the hype come release day.
