Since the original iPhone in 2007, the iPhone Photography Awards have been showcasing incredible work from professional and amateur photographers. This year’s IPAA’s are no different, and the winners are on display. Selections were made for over 15 different categories from thousands of photos submitted from 38 countries.
What’s interesting about the winners is that there’s an overall lack of heavy filtering you typically get in apps like Instagram. Prosumer iOS photography apps like VSCO Cam have helped steer the trend in mobile photography towards more realistic, clean editing techniques. There are, however, still exceptions:
Apple has been very intent on marketing how the iPhone has quickly become the premiere tool for photography. A recent TV ad from Apple said, “every day, more photos are taken with the iPhone than any other camera.”
