The Awesome Modus III Packs Every Known iPad Accessory Into One Giant Package

You’re going to love this one. What if I told you there was an iPad accessory that combined a full-sized keyboard, a case, a desktop tray and an iPhone dock, plus a compartment for storing a whole mess of charging and connection accessories. And what if I told you this behemoth was styled into a package that would make a 1990s-era traveling businessman proud to use it?

Well, as you may have suspected, this absurdity does exist. It’s called the Modus III, and it’s all kinds of awesome.

Set to launch tomorrow on Kickstarter, the Modus III embodies what Microsoft means when it says “no compromises.” That is, it compromises everything. Yes, it packs in speakers, an iPhone dock, a detachable case for the iPad, a keyboard, a weird sliding mount and a cord storage compartment, but it’s also huge, weighing in at 2.4 pounds. You know what else weighs 2.4 pounds (2.38 pounds, to be exact)? A MacBook Air. Yes, you could carry your MacBook along with you and enjoy the functionality of a full computer instead of stranding your poor iPad inside this monster.

And it gets better. The Modus III costs $300 (although the first 125 Kickstarterers get it for $170), and comes in a variety of colors. You can choose black or white, but much more fun will be the fake “wood burl look” (which I think means “burr walnut”) or “carbon fiber look.”

You couldn’t make this stuff up. Except that—of course—somebody has. Want one? Great. Get in in touch, because I have a new product I’m planning which combines a fax machine with an iPad case. I think it’s going to be huge (and I mean literally huge: It’s going to weigh around 20 kilos).
