Tower Defense Sequel, ‘Kingdom Rush: Frontiers,’ Gets Rising Tides Update Today

Mmmmm, scurvy.
Mmmmm, scurvy.

Released last month, Kingdom Rush: Frontiers is the followup to the critically-acclaimed Kingdom Rush, one of my personal favorites in the Tower Defense genre, what with its cute little hand-drawn characters, wacky sense of humor, and some of the most finely-tuned tower defense levels I’ve ever played.

Kindgom Rush: Frontiers, then, just got a marine-flavored update today with six new nautical-themed creeps to defend against, two new heroes to deploy when things get rough, and some extra maps and achievements to keep you entertained far beyond the already stellar gameplay of the original release.

The Rising Tides update is available as a free download for those who already have Kingdom Rush: Frontiers on their iOS device, which itself is currently at a $2.99 price point. The update includes a new, three stage campaign against those nasty sea devils and six new enemies, each with their own special abilities, including green-fin man-hunters, storm-summoning Bluegales, and—obviously—hordes of scurvy sea-dogs. The new level also includes its own boss battle with the Leviathan, a vengeful deep-sea god you’ll need to defeat. The two new heroes, Kutsau, a mysterious monk from a distant land, and Karkinos, a Crab Man General, will help you get the five new achievements included with the update.

Kingdom Rush: Frontiers is more of what made the original Kingdom Rush amazing, with new towers, levels, enemies and heroes. The Rising Tide update brings even more of that good stuff, and rams it at you in this free update. You won’t like it; you’ll love it.

Kingdom Rush: Frontiers for iPhone runs $2.99, while the HD iPad version, which will also get the free update, will set you back a cool $4.99. Both are worth the money and time invested, in my opinion, so get cracking, ya land lubbers!
