The Tinke Lightning Dongle Measures Your Zen Level, Dude

Zensorium’s Tinke is one of those gadgets that’s a little off the beaten path. Like many fitness gadgets, it can measure heart rate. What makes it different is that it’ll also measure blood oxygen levels and respiratory rate — and what it does with that data is even more unusual.

The little pastel-colored dongle pairs with its own neat, pretty app which interprets the sensor data to display not just your fitness level, but also your wellness level (Zensorium respectively calls them Vita and Zen Indices).

The sensors themselves are optical and nature and measure “blood volume changes” in the veins of the user as his thumb is pressed on the dongle.

The Tinke dongle has actually been around for a while; what’s new is that it’s now available in Lighting flavor. It’ll be available in October at the same price as the 30-pin version, $119.
