Limbo is an atmospheric platform puzzle game which has sold over three million copies across several gaming platforms, including PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Steam, and the Mac App Store.
Developer Playdead announced recently that Limbo will now also be available on the iOS platform for iPad 2 and up, as well as the latest generation iPod touch and iPhone 4S and 5.
In Limbo, you’re cast in the role of a young boy searching through a monochromatic world, scrolling in 2D, solving environmental puzzles to progress. The soundtrack is haunting and the visuals are top notch. If you haven’t given this one a play yet, now’s the time. Check out the trailer video to see what we mean:

While Limbo came out earlier this month on the PlayStation Vita, the iOS version will be the first time it’s playable only with touch controls.
“We have worked very hard to bring LIMBO to as many devices as possible,” the company said. “Rethinking the controls and performing extensive optimizations to ensure an amazing touch-based experience.”
Limbo won quite a few awards for its visual style, unusual lighting, and ambient soundtrack. Levels require you to solve mechanical puzzles to progress through the levels and avoid deadly environmental traps and hazards, keeping the boy from being dismembered along the way.
Limbo is slated to launch on July 3 for $4.99, which seems high for App Store games, but is a fantastic deal for a game with this level of pedigree and polish. Be sure to give it a try when it drops next week.
