Misleading Corduroy Nano Case Made From Silicone, Not Cotton

Here’s a practical case for you. It’s called the Corduroy Clip Case, and — while only half of its name is true — it does appear like the perfect way to both carry your iPod and make yourself look like a kind of creepy, Robin Williams-esque man-child.

The Corduroy is — presumably — named for the raised lines which resemble the ridges on the famous cotton fabric. But this is wrong: as all aficionados of made-up trivia know, Corduroy is named not for the cord-shaped lines but for Roy Cord, the eccentric youngest child of of the famous Cord cotton dynasty. Roy, as we all know, used to make a “vroop vroop” sound with his mouth as he walked around the Cord family mansion, and this inspired his older sister (and the family’s head designer) Maud Cord to invent some jeans that made the same sound as her weird little brother.

The silicone Corduroy, on the oner hand, is a case with a belt clip on the outside and a hole for the 7G iPod Nano on the inside. It comes in eight colors and costs $20.
