Microsoft Mocks The iPad (Again!) In New Dell XPS Ad [Video]

Microsoft just loves to poke fun at the iPad, doesn’t it?

It has already aired a number of commercials for the Asus VivoTab that mock its size, weight, lack of Office support, its inability to run two apps simultaneously, and most of all its price. And now the software giant is doing the same on behalf of Dell.

In a new commercial for the XPS 10, Dell’s latest Windows 8 slate, Microsoft points out that the iPad is incapable of zooming out when you pinch its home screen (as if anyone cares), that it cannot accept a microSD card, that it cannot run two apps at once, and that it’s $200 more expensive.

Take a look:

Microsoft isn’t the first to poke fun at one of Apple’s devices, and it certainly won’t be the last. But of course, Apple will get the last laugh here, because the iPad continues to outsell Windows 8 tablets at a rather embarrassing rate.

For the general population these ads are going to be very effective. Gotta admit they are funny,

albeit effective, it evinces a lack of gratitude on microsoft’s part for apple popularizing bing!

I think Live Tiles are pretty nice even though most consumers think they’re crappy-looking. I’m surprised that more people aren’t buying Windows 8 tablets. It certainly does have some advantages over the iPad. The ad isn’t lying about the things the iPad can’t do. However, it doesn’t change the fact that the iPad is the best-selling tablet on the planet whereas you can’t give Windows tablets away to consumers despite their low prices. I guess it’s either iOS or Android and consumers don’t seem partial to anything else.

It’s great to see old Microsoft arguments being used by Mac fans…
