Popular iPhone case maker Otterbox has acquired LifeProof for an undisclosed sum. The news was announced today by the two companies at the CTIA wireless show.

Both Otterbox and LifeProof specialize in rugged, water-resistant cases for the iPhone and iPad. Both companies have also branched out and made cases for competing devices, like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One. LifeProof’s designs are noticeably thinner than most of Otterbox’s.

LifeProof has been in the iPhone case game since 2011, and the brand will retain its name after the acquisition. Hopefully this means that Otterbox cases will start getting sleeker and less bulky.
