Your next iPad keyboard might come from… Microsoft! That’s right: this minimal, great-looking, tablet-specific keyboard comes from Microsoft. And while is is designed to be used with Windows 8, it "also works with iPad and most Android devices.

The keyboard has the usual Bluetooth connection, aluminum tray and host of media keys. But it also comes with a clever cover which detaches to make a stand for a tablet, as seen in the picture at the top of this post.

The Wedge Mobile […] keyboard cover not only protects your device from scratches, but also quickly converts into a tablet stand, allowing you to work or watch movies. When you’re done, simply snap the cover back on the keyboard to power it down before you stash it in your bag or backpack. It’s as portable—and easy—as that.

Neat, huh? I especially like the fact that the lid switches the keyboard off when you put it in place. Hopefully it’s a little less prone to switching on in your bag than Apple’s aluminum wireless keyboard.

I’d like to try one out. Right now I’m still more than happy with my Logitech Easy-Switch keyboard, which I can share between a Mac and an iPad. But that requires that I carry a case and an iPad stand when I head to the local bar to work.

The Wedge Mobile keyboard is available now, for between $50 (Amazon) and $100 (RRP).
