Apple Offering WWDC Tickets To Devs Who Couldn’t Buy Them Earlier

This morning, tickets went on sale for Apple’s 2013 Worldwide Developers Conference at $1,500 a piece. In a matter of two minutes the conference was sold out, and many developers were left staring at their computer screens with mouths agape.

But it looks like Apple didn’t sell all of the tickets just yet. Apple is reserving tickets and offering them to developers who were able to place their orders online.

In a post titled “OMG. Apple ROCKS!!!” a registered member of Apple’s developer program explains how he got a call from Apple earlier today:

I pick up and a nice guy tells me he’s from Apple Developer Support and that they noticed that I tried to purchase a ticket today and that the transaction didn’t go through. I told him that was true. I thought the next thing out of his mouth would be an apology or something – just to be nice.

He then proceeds to tell me that he’s got good news – a ticket has been reserved for me in my name and that I’ll be receiving an email from Developer Support within 12 hours with instructions on how to purchase the pass.

Daniel Jalkut, a respected member of the Apple developer community, tweeted the following:

There doesn’t seem to be much rhyme or reason to how Apple is selecting devs to call, but everyone who has been contacted seems to have at least had a ticket in their cart before Apple’s servers shut down.

Turn that frown upside down. There’s still hope!

Update: Here’s another dev who got contacted:
