Apple submitted a new proposal, dubbed Submittal 6, for it’s super futuristic circular spaceship campus in Cupertino. The revision includes new details like bike and pedestrian paths, enhancements to street areas, and parking spaces for the huge project, which is behind schedule and $2 billion over budget. The current move-in estimate is in the summer of 2016, a date that continues to show up in the lastest revision.
The new images of the proposed campus, a wild round design that Steve Jobs had a hand in designing, now shows images of the streets around the proposed construction site, showing enhancements to the local areas, with lighting for pedestrians, better paving, and a media with pretty landscaped plants. There’s also an added description of bike lanes, boxes, and turn lanes for cyclists.
Planning for parking has also increased, with an extra 240 spaces planned for the main parking area and another 240 at a nearby parking location. There’s also 60 more spots at the planned corporate auditorium, to be used for valet parking.
There’s also a spot in the new plans for public art installations. All in all, it sounds like a super pretty great place to go to work, wouldn’t you say?
Officially named Apple Campus 2, the new complex was shown to the Cupertino City Council by Steve Jobs back in June of 2011. The original plan was to get the thing started in 2012, but we know now it won’t happen until 2016 at the earliest. The crazy office installation will be 2.8 million square feet across 176 acres of land, with office space for more than 12,000 employees, making it larger than the Pentagon.
