I don’t know about you, but I find that displaying the battery percentage alongside the battery indicator in the iPhone’s status bar takes up too much room — particularly if you use tweaks that provide status bar symbols for outstanding notifications. I usually use Springtomize to remove the battery indicator altogether, leaving just the percentage.
But a new tweak called Live Battery Indicator gives you the best of both worlds — without taking up too much space.
Live Battery Indicator kind of merges the battery indicator and the percentage into one, while making them both easy to read. It’s a simple tweak, but it’s one that’s very handy, and therefore likely to become very popular. What’s more, it’s completely free.
Once installed, Live Battery Indicator starts working straight away — there’s nothing to configure and no settings to play around with. You’ll get the same battery indicator that you see in the screenshot above, giving you a percentage inside a round battery indicator.
But if you dive into Winterboard, you’ll find there is an alternate theme, which puts the percentage inside a more traditional square battery indicator. I prefer the default one because I find it easy to read, but if you like the built-in battery indicator Apple provides, you may enjoy the square one more.
Alternatively, you can create your own battery indicator themes. Inside the Settings app, find the Live Battery Indicator preferences for the instructions you’ll need to create and save themes yourself.
Live Battery Indicator is available to download now from Cydia’s BigBoss repository, and it won’t cost you a penny.
