The iPhone 5 has one of the best cameras you’ll find on a smartphone, but Apple could be looking to make it even better for the iPhone 5S. According to the latest rumor surrounding the next iPhone, we can expect a 12-megapixel camera with improved low-light shooting, and HDR video recording.
According to a source at Wonderful Saigon Electrics, the Vietnamese branch of a Japanese company that produces components for Apple, who has been speaking to Tinhte.vn, one of the improvements the Cupertino company makes to the iPhone 5S will be to its camera, upgrading the existing 8-megapixel sensor to a 12-megapixel one.
In addition to this, Apple will reportedly make improvements to low-light photography, allowing the iPhone to compete with devices like the Nokia 808 PureView. The device is also expected to feature HDR video recording, a feature that’s beginning to make its way to high-end Android smartphones.
None of this information can be confirmed until Apple actually announces the iPhone 5S, of course, so take it with a pinch of salt for now. However, this is the same source who correctly predicted last year that Apple would stick with an 8-megapixel camera for the iPhone 5 rather than upgrading to a 10-megapixel one.
