Breaking her silence on her husband and his legacy, Steve Jobs’s widow Laurene Powell Jobs appeared on on Rock Center with Brian Williams on Friday to say that Jobs’s “legacy is beautiful for me to live with.”

Laurene Powell Jobs was on Rock Center to promote her new film and website, The Dream Is Now, a project aimed at helping get the DREAM Act passed.

As we’ve written before, The DREAM Act is an act that would give children of illegal immigrants a path towards naturalization.

The DREAM Act is an act that many people have been trying to get passed since 2001, but has yet to make it through Congress. According to the provisions of the act, it would let immigrants younger than thirty years old earn legal residence as long as they were brought to the country when they were under fifteen and have lived in America for longer than five years.

The Dream Is Now is a website in pursuit of making that act a reality. The idea is simple: a place for the kind of kids whom the DREAM Act would help to share their stories. These kids, called DREAMers, can submit videos in which they describe their lives and why they want to stay in America, which other people can view.

While the bulk of Powell’s interview focuses, rightly, on The Dream Is Now, she did have some beautiful comments to make about her late husband.

Here’s the video embed:

I think Steve has a public legacy and a private legacy. In the public we see the products that he created that he cared so deeply about, that changed all of our lives, the way that we function and communicate. What he wanted to do in his life was create tools that allowed people to work at the highest levels, and I think he did that. So that legacy is beautiful for me to live with. His private legacy with me and the kids is that of husband and father and we miss him every day.
