You Can Now Buy Apple’s Latest iMacs With A Built-In VESA Mount Adapter

Apple’s latest iMac can’t be mounted to a wall like its predecessor can, at least not if you buy the regular version. However, the Cupertino company has today updated its online store to add new iMacs that come with a built-in VESA mount adapter for an additional $40 fee. The feature is available on both the 21.5- and the 27-inch models.

The VESA mount adapter isn’t a like most iMac upgrades that can be added before you get to the checkout — it actually comes on an entirely separate family of machines. So before you add your new iMac to your basket, you have to decide whether you want one with a stand, or with a VESA mount adapter.

You only get the adapter, too, so you’ll still need the VESA mount itself to stick your iMac to the wall. Apple offers a number of compatible mounts that you can add to your order before checkout, including wall mounts and desk mounts from Bretford, and a swivel column clamp mount from Sanus.

The VESA mount iMacs are $40 more expensive than the regular models, but they come with the same components inside them. You can also make the same customizations and upgrades that are available to the regular iMacs. The machines are currently shipping in 7-10 days.
