Sony’s NEX line has given birth to some of the best mirrorless cameras we’ve ever seen. They’re small, lightweight, and boast some pretty awesome image quality for their size.
Sony just upped the bar again this week by announcing the NEX-3N. It’s the world’s lightest interchangeable lens camera with an APS-C sensor, making it a contender for one of the best value mirrorless cameras you can find.
The NEX-3N is meant to succeed the NEX-F3. It’s got a 16.1 megapixel APS HD CMOS sensor, which is identical in size to those found in entry-level DSLRs. The bigger sensor means the NEX-3N can snap pictures up to ISO 16000, so it should perform relatively well in low-light.
One of the new features for the NEX-3N includes Sony’s Auto Object Framing technology, which can identify the main object of a framed scene, and then automatically trim the scene around the object to create a photo that looks more professionally composed.
Along with the fancy new software, sleeker and lighter body, the new camera also comes with a 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens that will come in the kit package. The body and kit lens should retail for around $500 and be available in the U.S. as soon as April.
