Auxo Designer Shows Off Awesome New App Switching Concept For iPhone [Video]

Auxo, a wonderful app switcher from interface designer Sentry, has become a must-have tweak for jailbroken iPhones since it hit Cydia back in December. But it seems Sentry has plenty of other ideas up his sleeve when it comes to improving the multitasking experience on iOS.

He’s released a new concept for switching between apps on the iPhone that’s unlike anything you’ve seen before. Check out the video below.

In Sentry’s latest concept, the app switcher doesn’t appear from the bottom of the screen as it normally would; instead, an upward swipe with one finger splits the app you’re using in half, then displays the app switcher down the center of the display. You can then swipe left or right to see settings toggles and media controls. It sounds crazy, but it looks pretty awesome.

It’s unclear whether Sentry’s new concept, which doesn’t yet have a name, will turn into a jailbreak tweak like Auxo did. But I’m sure if it receives plenty of positive feedback, then the tweak will happen.

I can see that it could be a little difficult to get used to, however. I’ve never been a big fan of tweaks that utilize such simple, one-fingered gestures — such as Zephyr. I find myself doing things I didn’t mean to do — such as closing an app or bringing up the multitasking tray — when I just intended to scroll down a website or jump in Temple Run.

What do you think of Sentry’s latest concept?
