Vodafone U.K. has told iPhone 4S users that it’s okay to update their handsets to Apple’s latest iOS 6.1.1 release. The carrier had previously warned that updating to iOS 6.1 could cause connectivity problems, but it has now confirmed that those issues are fixed in the latest release.
iOS 6.1 was released in late January, so Vodafone wasn’t exactly quick off the mark when it warned users not to update their devices earlier this week. The carrier explained that there was “an issue” with the release that was causing connectivity issues with the iPhone 4S, and that customers may have trouble connecting to the network, making and receiving calls and texts, and accessing the Internet.
Now that Apple has released its iOS 6.1.1 software, however, Vodafone has said it’s okay to update.
“Apple has released a new version of its iPhone software that fixes the 3G performance issues that have been affecting users of the iPhone 4S who had installed iOS 6.1,” it said today. “Please download the latest version — iOS 6.1.1 — from Apple as soon as you can as this will deal with these issues.”
3 Austria also told its customers not to update to iOS 6.1, while O2 U.K. said that its customers hadn’t experienced any issues. It doesn’t seem as though the problem affected every user, then, but if you’re one of the unlucky ones, updating again should fix it.
And don’t worry about losing your jailbreak, because iOS 6.1.1 can still be jailbroken with evasi0n.
