I frequently “shop” for books using my iPhone, snapping pictures of books I want to read as I move through the store, and keeping them in my Camera Roll. This is a quick an easy way to keep track of stuff I want to check out later, but there’s really no organization to it. What would be cool is an app that I can keep track of the books, movies, and music I want to read, watch, and listen to that keeps track of stuff while organizing it.
Enter Done Not Done, a sweet little wishlist app that does just that, and more, adding recommendations from Facebook and Twitter friends to boot.
Download the app from the iTunes App Store, and launch it on your iPhone. At the splash screen, hit the Sign Up button and enter your email, create a username and password, and click Done. Then, you can connect your Twitter and Facebook accounts: tap each service name in the list that follows the sign up process, entering your credentials as needed.
Now, tap on the Find + Add button at the bottom of the screen. Then, type in a search term in the field at the top for a book, movie, or artist that you want to add to your wishlist. Tap the Not done button to add it to your list of things that you want to look at later. You can add a comment here, as well, if you want to add any context details.
Now, tap on the Profile button in the lower right of the screen. Tap on the Settings button once there, and then tap on the Find friends button. You’ll then be able to choose Facebook or Twitter friends to buddy up with. ONce connected to your friends who also use the Done Not Done app, you’ll see a list of media they have added to the app, thus creating a magical recommendation engine based on your Twitter and Facebook friends and followers. Pretty slick!
