Cloud Speaker Reawakens 1970s Swedish Classic For Modern Era

According to the manufacturer Teenage Engineering, the original OD-11 speaker was hot stuff in Sweden in the 1970s. The OD-11 was a cube which packed an amp, subwoofer and speaker into one box, and it sold over 100,000 pairs in Sweden alone.

Now it’s back. The new version is called the Cloud Speaker, and it packs Wi-Fi and Bluetooth along with all the rest.

The Cloud Speaker connects to your music source via Wi-Fi, and can be remote-controlled using the supplied Bluetooth 4 remote. Inside the box is a 100-watt amp which drives the sub and speaker, and you are supposed to buy two of the things to act as halves of a stereo pair (you can set the left/right channel configuration yourself or just the the speakers to work it out for you.

Want one? You’ll have to wait. The new Cloud Speaker will ship this summer, but you can sign up to be notified when it’s ready. No word on price just yet, but you can be pretty sure that it won’t be cheap.
