Lucky Frame, developer behind indie hit iOS games Bad Hotel and Pugs Luv Beats, announced today that its anticipated follow-up game, Wave Trip, will release on January 22, 2012. So, in just two short weeks, you’ll be able to control a mysterious geometric astronaut, helping her travel through worlds of beauty as well as danger, saving her friends via music and beat-based gameplay.

You’ll also be able to create your own Wave Trip levels and share them with friends, which is pretty spiffy, indeed. You can even remix and share the levels created by the devs in the game. Every object in the game has a musical characteristic, so creating these levels is a lot like making music, just easier and with more cube-shaped sheep.

From the developer:

This game is the latest project from Lucky Frame that combines high-quality music generation with super-fun gameplay. As with Pugs Luv Beats and Bad Hotel, Wave Trip is a music game where the focus is on creation. The structure of the levels is inspired by traditional music sequencers, and remixing and creating an original level is very similar to electronic music. The end result sees music and play fully intertwined and complemented by gorgeous graphics and rewarding gameplay.

I thoroughly enjoyed Lucky Frame’s previous two outings, and can’t wait to get my hot little hands on this new release. I’m a fan of electronic music, whimsical gameplay, and the art style that pervades each title, so this one is a must buy from day one. No word yet on price point, but we’ll keep our ear to the ground and let you know when we find out.
