When I was a kid, magnets promised everything and delivered nothing. Wile E. Coyote’s scheme to feed the Road Runner iron filings and trap him with a giant horseshoe magnet mightn’t have work exactly as planned, but the magnet did at least drag any and every metal object in the vicinity into Mr. Coyote’s cave.
These days, magnets are as strong as the cartoons always promised. And they make things like Mesh’s JustMount possible.
The JustMount is like a magnetic knife rack, only for gadgets. And instead of costing a few bucks at IKEA, it’ll cost you a few bucks ($25) at Kickstarter.
The idea is so simple it needs no explanation: the JustMount is a hefty square of magnetic attraction which you screw to the wall, and then use to secure your metal-containing gadgets.
If you want to stick your iPhone up there, you’ll need a case that’ll stick (the makers of the JustMount also make the Smart Cover-alike TidyTilt case which will do the job), or you can just use it for cables and other desktop annoyances.
As a fan of both magnets and tidiness, I think this is a great idea. And the cute cuboid case is certainly cool. But why not just use a knife rack? More space, lower profile and available now, not in the future when the Kickstarter project finally ships.
