Those photo screen saver modules that Apple includes with Mac OS X are gorgeous, right? With Aerial, Cosmos, National Geographic, and Nature Patterns on offer, the basic photo Screen Saver is just right to keep things pretty when you step away from your Mac for a moment or two. I’ve gotten tons of complements on the photos, and they’re just the default ones.
But sometimes I want to see the previous photo in a screensaver slide show. How do I do that without waiting for the whole rotation of photos to move through, just to see that one photo again?
Well, it’s not too tricky. If you’ve set up your Mac to use one of the photography-based screen savers, that is.
Simply head into System Preferences and click on Desktop & Screen Saver. Then, choose one of the Slideshow modules there at the top. Then, either start the screen saver with a Hot Corner, or wait for it to kick in. You also might want to set the default time delay a bit shorter than the usual to test this out if you’re going to wait for it.
Once the screen saver activates, tap the right or left arrow keys on your keyboard. If in a photo screen saver like Ken Burns or Classic, you’ll move through the photos in the screen saver with a dissolve transition. For some of the newer photo-based screen savers, like Photo Wall, you’ll just move the photos along their path a bit more quickly.
This will also work with any of these photo screen saver modules that you use with your own pictures as well.
